An occasional objection I come across to the prospect of building self awareness is that it feels self-indulgent and won’t actually change anything. Whilst I can empathise with the discomfort of putting the spotlight on yourself, I firmly believe that leadership is all about an understanding of human nature, and that understanding needs to start with you. Whilst self-awareness on its own won’t necessarily lead to change, it is the necessary precursor to put real change into action.
